WAILEA, Maui (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man who was on vacation from Canada died Monday after a trip to the beach.
According to Maui fire officials, crews were called out to Ulua Beach just after 12:15 p.m. Monday.
There, bystanders were performing CPR on a 66-year-old man visiting from Saskatchewan Canada.
Despite revival efforts, officials said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was reportedly scuba diving with a family member. The man got out of the water, then got back in to assist another family member with their gear. When he reentered the water, that's when witnesses say he went unconscious.
He was pulled ashore and bystanders attempted to revive him.
The man's name has not yet been released.
