TRAFFIC: H-1 freeway reopens after crash near Kunia off-ramp

KUNIA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - All lanes of the H-1 freeway have reopened after an accident on the H-1 freeway near the Kunia off-ramp Monday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m., an accident between the Kunia off-ramp and the Ewa exit shut down all westbound lanes of the freeway.

Officials say two vehicles were involved. Two people, a 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, were in a sedan when they were rear ended by a large truck, according to EMS officials.

One person was extricated from the vehicle with the use of the Jaws of Life.

Both were taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m. after crews cleared the scene.
