Sheraton Kona fined $20K for operating restaurant without permit

KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state Department of Health is fining the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay $20,000 for operating a restaurant without a valid permit.

The restaurant in question is Da Dog House.

A health inspector found that Da Dog House had been operating illegally since Dec. 24, 2017.

Officials say not having a valid permit is "one of the most serious violations of the food safety code" and that having one is vital to ensuring compliance with basic health and safety requirements for protection against food illnesses.

Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay is located on Ehukai Street.
