HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball clinched sole possession of first place in the big West Conference after taking care of business against UC Davis Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in a 77-72 win.

Hawaii (13-5, 4-1) has now won its fourth-straight game after dropping its Big West opener.

Warriors forward Jack Purchase scored a game-high 21 points, including five free throws down the stretch to help secure the win. Leland Green, who started in place of the injured-Brocke Stepteau, scored 11 points while Sheriff Drammeh added 14 points,

The Warriors forced 23 Aggies turnovers, tallying a season-high 13 steals. The 'Bows also limited UC Davis to just 3-of-19 shooting from behind the arc.

Hawaii will wrap up its four-game homestand next week against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m., HT.
