Police arrest man after Chinatown stabbing

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One man was arrested after a stabbing in Chinatown Friday night.

The stabbing happened around 9:30 p.m. The suspect, identified by police records as 58-year-old James Winters, was arrested shortly after. Police say he fled the scene and was found at Maunakea Marketplace.

Police say an argument broke out between the victim and the suspect moments before the stabbing.

The stabbing happened on Hotel and Smith street. EMS officials say a 42-year-old man was taken to the hospital with stab wounds in serious condition.

Winters has 10 prior run-ins with the law, including two arrests on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Police are investigating this as an assault case.
