LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 28-year-old man who's accused of stealing a car from a dealership and continuing to drive even as an employee jumped on the vehicle has been arrested.
Police identified the Anahola man as Jovi Enrique.
He was arrested Tuesday for second-degree robbery, car theft and first-degree reckless endangering.
Police said the incident happened at King Auto Center in Lihue, when the suspect was inquiring about a Honda Pilot.
He asked the employee if he could listen to the car's engine and, during the test, jumped into the driver's seat and started to drive away.
That's when a 50-year-old employee jumped onto the vehicle to try to stop Enrique from leaving.
He lost his grip and fell onto the road, suffering non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was subsequently arrested, and is being held on $19,000 bail.
