HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Fire Department officials and Air1 rescue operators were busy this MLK holiday rescuing injured hikers across Oahu trails.
Five hikers total were rescued on four different trails — the youngest being a three-year-old girl.
The toddler was being carried by her father, a man in his 30s, on the Lulumahu Falls trail just before 2 p.m. Officials said the father-daughter pair fell about 15 feet. Both suffered head injuries.
They were airlifted out of the trail and transported into EMS care. Both were taken to a hospital and listed in serious condition.
Other rescues took place between noon and 2 p.m. in Manoa, Palolo and Nuuanu.
One hiker was was on the Pali Notches trail when he fell 20 feet after a rope he was using to climb gave way. He suffered an ankle injury.
