HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After golfing 18 holes during the final round of the 2018 Sony Open on Sunday, Patton Kizzire's day was far from over. He was forced to play six playoff holes against James Hahn in what was an unforgettable playoff at the Waialae Country Club.
Hahn and Kizzire were neck-and-neck the whole way, essentially hitting their shots within the same vicinity of each other. After switching back-and-forth from the 18th and 17th holes, Hahn lipped out a par save on what was a tough putt, but a very makeable one.
"This is huge for me," Kizzire said after his round. "One win doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot, two means a little more and three is even better. I'm always looking for the next one. I'm super excited right now."
Kizzire, from just a matter of feet away from the hole, tapped home a par putt to clinch the Sony Open.
"Shoot, after everything that happened today, there's nothing that's going to surprise me," Kizzire said. "I hate that it ended that way. i was hoping someone could make a birdie to win or eagle, but this big for me."
