AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu fire officials have determined a two-alarm house fire in Aiea caused roughly $270,000 in damage.
HFD said the fire broke out just after 11 a.m. at a home on Kaonohi Street. HFD responded with nine fire companies staffed with 34 personnel.
Flames and smoke were seen shooting out of the single-story home's garage.
Crews had the fire under control by 11:30 a.m.
HFD says no one was inside the building at the time of the fire. The home's two occupants, a man and woman in their 80s, safely fled to a neighbor's house. They were evaluated and transferred into EMS care.
American Red Cross volunteers assisted displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
