HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine volleyball dropped its third-straight Big West Conference game Thursday night, losing to UC Irvine 74-67.
The Wahine (7-9, 0-3 BWC) struggled to get things going after a good start as the Anteaters (9-7, 1-1 BWC) were able to limit Hawaii's opportunities on the offensive end for the rest of the first half.
Hawaii turned the ball over 14 times in the first half alone, due to UC Irvine's full-court press as the Wahine trailed by five points going into the break. The Wahine shot 50 percent from the floor heading into the fourth quarter, but their hot streak faded as they shot just 31 percent from the field in the final period.
Lahni Salanoa led the Wahine with 15 points and seven boards while Sarah Toeaina racked up 12 points.
For the Anteaters, Morgan Green dominated all game-long, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor, including 5-of-9 from three-point range for a game-high 31 points.
The Wahine return to action on Saturday to face Long Beach State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. HT.
