Woman suspected in violent Puna kidnapping pleads not guilty

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The woman accused of a violent Big Island kidnapping over a week ago appeared in court Monday.

Nikki Nasario pleaded not guilty to the incident that took place in Puna.

Nasario, along with another man, is accused of hitting a woman with a tire iron and putting her in the trunk of a car.

The victim's mom says her daughter was attacked because of a crime she didn't commit.

"They had blamed my daughter for stealing a car which she had nothing to do with. And so they went after her," Agnes Nathaniel, the victim's mother said. "When I went to hospital, it was hard to see her in that predicament. I was trying to not cry and not let my emotions get over me."

Nasario's bail is set at $25,000. Joshua Sosa, who's also accused in the crime, remains hospitalized.
