WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police have arrested a 29-year-old man who was on the run after trying to run over a police officer over the weekend.
John Kamaka Jr., 29, was arrested in Waianae for second-degree attempted murder.
Kamaka went on the run after an incident Sunday in Waianae.
Police responded to a call of a man in a white van armed with two knives. When police arrived, the suspect tried to flee.
Kamaka then allegedly hit multiple vehicles in his attempt to escape, and drove the vehicle towards an officer, police said.
The officer dashed out of the way, avoiding injury, as Kamaka sped off.
Sources say during the incident, an officer fired her gun.
Authorities called Kamaka "dangerous," and launched a manhunt for him.
