Man accused of trying to hit HPD officer with stolen vehicle

Honolulu police say a 34-year-old man tried to hit an on-duty officer with a stolen vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 2 p.m. in the Ala Moana area.

According to police records, the suspect, Adam Manuel, was booked on several charges, including attempted murder on a law enforcement officer and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

Police said Manuel had 70 prior arrests.

As of Thursday morning, Manuel was still in police custody.

The officer was not hurt.
