HANALEI, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A grand jury has indicted a Moloa'a man for a stabbing that occurred nearly two months ago outside a Hanalei restaurant.
Authorities say 28-year-old Michael Beck wil face first- and second-degree assault charges for the September 16 incident. Beck is accused of stabbing Miles Barsotti with a large kitchen knife in the parking lot of a restaurant called Tahiti Nui.
Barsotti told Hawaii News Now after the incident that he was stabbed multiple times in the shoulder, ribs and legs after trying to break up a flight between Beck and one of his friends.
At the time, authorities said Beck had been "physically attacked by multiple subjects in the rear parking lot" of the restaurant, refrained from making any arrests while they investigated whether the stabbing was self defense.
