HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - You may have heard about a federal report that calculates the role of tips in total income in restaurants. It depends on the job. Perhaps we didn't all know how much tips count for, if you're waiting tables or serving drinks. Some wait persons share tips with people in the back.
That's okay if it's voluntary but restaurants that make servers do that can be fined. Another factor, most people don't consider – how far a tip goes in a given state's economy. A map, basically a proxy for the cost of living, shows money travels farther in the Midwest and South. On the left and right coasts, not so far.
In Hawaii, I'm sure you can guess.
