For four former Rainbow Warriors, their dreams of signing with an NFL team was realized on Saturday as Marcus Kemp, Rigoberto Sanchez, Leo Koloamatangi, and Jerrol Garcia-Williams all signed free agent contracts with four different squads around the league.
Last year's team MVP, wide receiver, Marcus Kemp, is set to join the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2016, Kemp led all UH receivers with 1,100 yards on 73 receptions. He currently ranks ninth on the team's all-time receiving yards list and was named All-Mountain West Honorable mention last season.
Rigoberto Sanchez signed a free agent contract with the Colts on Saturday. Last season Sanchez broke Jason Elam's single-season field goal percentage record after going a perfect 13-for-13, including a career-long 55-yarder at Michigan. He was also ranked second in the Mountain West and 10th nationally among punters last season.
Offensive lineman, Leo Koloamatangi agreed to a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions. Koloamatangi started all 13 games last season for Hawaii, three at center and 10 at right guard. He received All-MW Honorable Mention honors and participated in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl after recording 30 knockdowns and playing every offensive snap in 10 games.
Jerrol Garcia-Williams accepted a free agent contract with the Denver Broncos. In his senior season Garcia-Williams appeared in 10 games and recorded 31 total tackles including two for a loss.
