The man accused of killing his mother and dismembering her body pleaded not guilty to murder on Monday.
Yu Wei Gong, 26, appeared at his arraignment after an Oahu grand jury indicted him with second-degree murder in the death of his mother, Liu Yun Gong.
Gong is accused of killing, dismembering, then storing his mother’s body in a freezer in a Waikiki apartment back in September.
He was arrested April 11, after calling 911 and telling a dispatcher, “I killed my mom,” court documents said. He was subsequently hospitalized at the Queen’s Medical Center as he underwent a mental health evaluation.
Gong remains in custody on a $2 million bail.
