Clouds and showers from an old cold front are overstaying their welcome a bit into Sunday, mainly for the windward and mauka slopes of Kauai and Oahu. East to southeast trades are expected to increase to locally breezy speeds Sunday afternoon. Drier conditions are expected statewide by Monday, but trade showers are expected to increase again by Wednesday or Thursday, with unsettled weather possible near the end of the week.
Surf for north and west shores has dropped below advisory levels and will continue to slowly decline. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday for the usually windier waters around Maui County and Hawaii island.
