It was a repeat win for Halau Hi'iakainamakalehua as their entry to the Miss Aloha Hula competition won the title Thursday night at the Merrie Monarch festival.
Kelina Kiyoko Ke'ano'ilehua Tiffany Eldredge won the coveted title in a historic double tie breaker. This is the second consecutive win for the halau after Kayli Ka'iulani Carr took the title in 2016.
Eldredge won with an overall score of 1,499. Her Kumu Hula Lono Padilla and Robert Ka'upu IV, along with her halau sisters, erupted in cheers as she was announced the winner.
"The moment was so surreal, I can't believe it's me," Eldredge said.
Eldredge's kahiko and 'auana performances captivated the judges and the crowd as she beat out nine other contestants.
She also took home the Hawaiian Language Award.
Merrie Monarch continues Friday and Saturday with the halau kahiko and 'auana performances.
