A Waikiki eatery was cited Wednesday for hiding a yellow "conditional pass" placard issued by the state Health Department.
Heavenly, at the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki on Seaside Avenue, got the yellow placard after an inspection April 6 found seven major food code violations, including improper glove use, hand-washing and holding temperatures for foods.
A follow-up visit found the eatery had hidden the placard behind a "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign.
Heavenly, at 342 Seaside Ave., has 20 days to contest the notice.
“Food safety placard hiding or removal are serious violations with substantial consequences because it intentionally places profit above health and safety, and compromises the public’s trust and their right-to-know when violations occur during an inspection,” said Peter Oshiro, environmental health program manager, in a news release.
On April 12, Health Department inspectors found that all major violations at the eatery had been corrected.
