What started as a blissful honeymoon for a Boston couple turned into a heartbreaking stay in the islands.
On the last day of their 12-day trip, Mike Abboud and Lova Sun had their belongings stolen while they snorkled at Kahaluu Beach on the Big Island.
Abboud says his wallet and cell phone were in their beach bag when someone took the items. The crooks also stole the keys to their rental car. When they reached the parking lot, the couple discovered the car was stolen.
"When this happened, it was one of the worst feelings I've had in my entire life," Abboud said.
"My first instinct was someone must've misplaced this because I really just didn't think that this kind of thing happened in such an amazing place in Hawaii," Sun said. "Actually, when we asked, 'did someone take our bag?' and the locals there said there's no way that would happen, so we were both incredibly shocked."
Out of all the things that were taken, the couple is hoping to get back one item back, no questions asked.
The SD card for their camera has more than 300 photos and irreplaceable memories.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Big Island police.
