It will be a very excited crowd this Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center as the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior Volleyball team will host Pepperdine in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament quarterfinals this Saturday at 7 p.m.
UH is the No. 3 seed in the tournament and Pepperdine is the No. 6 seed. Hawaii won both matches over the Waves in the regular season, winning both in straight-sets.
UH is 24-4 this season and ranked No. 4 nationally. The Rainbow Warriors are 17-0 at the Stan Sheriff Center this season and boast a 21-match home win streak dating back to last season.
UH and Pepperdine have met five times in the MPSF Tournament and twice in the quarterfinal round in 1996 and 2010, both won by UH in Honolulu.
The match is a “White-Out” and fans are encouraged to wear white shirts.
UH will also be collecting canned goods for the Hawaii Foodbank at Saturday’s match. Donations can be made at Gate A.
Tickets are available online or at the Stan Sheriff Center Box Office and 944-2697.
Because this is a post-season event, UH students, who normally receive free admission, will need to pay to enter. However, Coach Wade has graciously purchased 200 tickets for UH Manoa students. The first 200 UHM students with valid ID will be admitted free. They may begin lining up on Saturday at Gate B -- near H-Zone store -- beginning at 6 p.m.
As of Wednesday afternoon, approximately 4,500 tickets have been distributed for the game.
