Two people were seriously injured after the car they were in crashed into a pole near Kahana Bay early Wednesday, Emergency Medical Services said.
According to the Hawaiian Electric Company, nearly 1,600 customers lost power when the happened around 12:40 a.m. Service, however, has since been restored to a majority of the customers.
In the meantime, high-profile vehicles are being contraflowed on Kamehameha Highway as HECO crews work to clear low-hanging wires and make repairs.
Authorities have not released further details about the victims or the cause of the crash.
