Light winds and a few showers to start our Wednesday. By afternoon, the winds could be much stronger with a chance of heavy showers and thundershowers.

The instability aloft is centered just to the west of Kauai, so the west end of the island chain is more at risk for the heavy weather.

Winds at their peak, particularly close to any thunderstorm activity, will be 15-20 mph with stronger gusts.

High in Honolulu will be 84 degrees.

Surf is slightly elevated, but still well below advisory levels.

The next large swell is expected next week and will be out of the northeast. Waves today will be 5-7 feet north, 3-5 feet east and west, 1-3 feet south.

No marine or weather advisories are posted.
