HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaiian Airlines is highlighting the battle against the Rapid Ohia Death with a new in-flight video.
The 16-minute film, produced by the non-profit Kupu, seeks to educate passengers about the Ohia blossom's important role in Hawaiian culture.
"We feel very much that Ohia is a part of us," Hilo resident Lahela Camara said in the video. "It's really foundational in our establishing a connection for our children to this place."
Camara was featured in the video for the special connection to the Ohia tree she has in her backyard.
Kumu Hula and practitioner Kekuhi Keali'ikanaka'oleohaililani and her halau was also featured in the video.
The short documentary will be available on Hawaiian Airlines flights through July.
