Forecast: Haze lingering ahead of potentially wet weather

Winds will remain on the lighter side so hazy conditions may linger until trade winds build back in late in the day. Skies should be partly to mostly sunny with only isolated showers expected. A weakening cold front should stall north of the islands.
Keep the umbrellas handy, however. A mid to upper level disturbance is forecast to develop just west of the state, and that will result in unstable conditions and the chance for more clouds and rain from Tuesday into Friday. Winds will likely become light east-southeast. It will be difficult to pinpoint exactly when and where the showers will be, but just be prepared for wetter weather.
Surf is rising for north and west shores. Not big, but there could be some head-high sets for the north shores. East shores will also rise with a somewhat choppy trade swell. A Small Craft Advisory will take effect at 6 p.m. for the Alenuihaha Channel.
