Hawaii Girl Scouts serve as delegates for UN commission on status of women

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Four Hawaii scouts were recently selected to serve as Delegates for the United Nations' Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) to bring the voice of young women to the global stage.

Candace Noguchi, Lily Perry, Essence Malaya Corley and Raelynn Chu served as the CSW delegates. In their roles as delegates, the scouts traveled to New York City and engaged with the national Girl Scouts Council and its work around global advocacy while learning more about global issues. Throughout the conference they addressed key global issues that impact girls and young women. Candace also had a speaking role on a STEM panel that included representatives from five different countries.

The international conference took place in New York City from March 10 through 17. We would be happy to arrange an in-studio interview with the scouts, who could speak further about their meaningful experiences and what they learned of key global issues.
