Approximately 4,125 gallons of wastewater spilled in Kahului on Monday, Maui County officials said.
The spill happened between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. behind a property on Alamaha Street.
Officials said it was caused by a grease blockage in the sewer line.
No wastewater reached the ocean.
The wastewater was pumped up and the spill area was cleared and disinfected.
The sate Department of Health has been notified.
