Police are searching for the driver who fled the scene of a crash on Likelike Highway that left a woman in serious condition Saturday night.
Traffic investigators say a 1997 Jeep Cherokee was travelling north on the highway when the driver lost control just after 8 p.m., about a half mile before the Wilson tunnel.
The woman was a passenger in the vehicle. She was ejected from the vehicle as it hit the guardrail and spun around.
The vehicle continued down the road and was found abandoned less than a mile from the spot of initial impact.
Alcohol appears to be a factor.
The injured woman was originally in critical condition, but has since improved to serious condition, according to police.
Likelike Highway was temporarily closed as police investigated. The road reopened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
