KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Extra security will be on campus at Castle High School on Monday after an alleged threat against the school.

On Friday night, a photo of a handgun was posted to social media by an apparent Castle High student with a threatening caption.

School officials say they were informed it was intended as an April Fools' joke, and the threat is not credible. However, as a precaution, an increased security presence will be on campus at the start of the upcoming school week.

Castle High sent a letter home to parents Saturday alerting them of the threat.

The letter read, "We are working closely with the Honolulu Police Department and have also consulted with the Hawaii State Department of Education's Safety and Security Branch to make sure the campus remains safe. At Castle High School, the safety and well being of all students, staff and families is of paramount importance to us. "

The post has since been removed. There are no changes to the school schedule.
