HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police are asking for help from the public in finding a suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning.

Traffic investigators say just before 3 a.m., a moped rider was struck on North School Street near the intersection of Kamehameha IV Road.

The 24 year-old male moped rider was traveling west on North School Street and approached the intersection when a vehicle made a left turn and collided with the moped.

The driver of the moped was taken in serious condition.

Details of the vehicle involved are limited. Police say it was a white vehicle that continued traveling northbound on Kamehameha IV Road. Witnesses describe the vehicle as a white Honda Accord.

It is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

One witness had this message for the suspect: "You got to show aloha. You got to be kind to people," Simone Sakisi said. "Just turn yourself in, do the right thing."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Honolulu Police Department Traffic Division at 723-3413.
