Big waves are the big story in weather today!

A new and very large west-northwest swell is already rolling in and will peak today along north and west shores. Wave sizes are dangerous to life and property.

North shores will be 20-30 feet, and west shores will see 15- to 20-foot surf. South shores with western exposure will see some of that swell and be in the 2- to 5-foot range. East shores are 3-5 feet today and grow larger with stronger trade winds tomorrow.

High Surf Warning for North and West shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai; north shores of Maui; and west shores of the Big Island.

Small Craft Advisory is posted for all waters due to the large open ocean swell with winds building by tonight.

The trade winds are returning to full strength today and should be breezy by this afternoon. The forecast call for 15-20 mph by the end of the day. Windward and mauka neighborhoods will be a bit cloudy and wet. Leeward beaches will be your best bet for blue sky.

High today in Honolulu will be 84 degrees.
