MAUI (Hawaii News Now) -

The Maui County Liquor Control Commission is facing allegations of violating the Sunshine Law.

A complaint filed asks the state Office of Information Practices to investigate if the Liquor Commission violated the Sunshine Law by not making certain meetings open to the public.

In the complaint, Madge Schaefer claims the published agenda for a February 8 meeting did not include any mention of a specific rule change.

During that meeting, the commission gave the green light to new rules that now permits the sale of alcohol past the 11 p.m. deadline.

Maui County is the first county in the state where liquor can be purchased 24 hours a day.
