SALT LAKE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Fire Department responded to two separate fires Thursday afternoon.
The first fire broke out in a Salt Lake apartment building just after 1 p.m.
HFD says the fire happened inside the wall of a penthouse unit. Security guards put out most of the flames with fire extinguishers before firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported. Investigators determined the fire was caused unintentionally from a torch used for plumbing work.
Damage is estimated at $3,000.
Then, at 1:50 p.m., firefighters responded to a blaze at a two-story Waipahu home.
When HFD arrived, firefighters located the flames coming from a ground floor bedroom.
The fire was fully extinguished by 2:26 p.m.
The American Red Cross is assisting the seven-member family that was displaced by the fire.
A cause has not yet been determined.
