WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The second annual Maui County Carnival has been canceled, E.K. Fernandez shows said.
The carnival was scheduled for April 6 through 9 at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku.
A spokesperson from E.K. Fernandez -- the company responsible for the 50th State Fair and other carnivals -- said it could not reach an agreement with Young Brothers over shipping costs.
The higher costs would've had to be passed on to the customers, which would've made the carnival unaffordable.
E.K. Fernandez is hoping to strike a deal with the shipping company before August. That's when it takes its popular games, rides and other equipment to Kauai, the Big Island and Maui for various shows.
