Forecast: Surf building along north and west shores

Today will be much like yesterday: Light trade winds giving way to afternoon sea breezes. A few mainly windward and mauka showers this morning.
By afternoon, as the sea breezes develop, interior and leeward communities could see some dark and ominous clouds form and showers fall.
High in Honolulu will be a sticky 86 degrees.
The trades could strengthen on Friday, but certainly by Saturday. That will make it much more comfortable outside.
Surf is building along north and west shores today. By this evening, wave heights will likely be in the high advisory or low warning category. That size of surf is dangerous to life and property. Stay alert and stay safe. Experts only in the water and watch the waves from a location well back from the shoreline.
Wave sizes today: North 8-12 feet, West 5-8 feet, East and South 2-4 feet.
No marine or weather advisories are currently posted.
