HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A late season west-northwest swell is declining, but waves are still big enough for a High Surf Advisory to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for several areas exposed to the swell.

The advisory is posted for the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, the north shores of Maui and the west shores of the Big Island.

Waves along the north and west shores of Kauai and Niihau are expected to reach 18 to 24 feet. North shores of Oahu will have 15- to 20-foot waves.

Another warning level swell is possible. Current forecast models show the swell rising Thursday night and peaking on Friday.
