HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Former University of Hawaii head volleyball coach Dave Shoji has finished treatment for prostate cancer, he announced Friday on Twitter.

The longest-tenured coach in the history of University of Hawaii athletics, Shoji announced in December that he was taking a leave of absence from the team in order to receive treatment. He resigned as Rainbow Wahine head coach last month.

His diagnosis came just weeks before Shoji became the second coach in the history of NCAA Division I volleyball to reach the 1,200-victory milestone.
