HALEIWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The comfort station at Kaiaka Beach Park is set to reopen Friday after being closed for more than three years.

Vandals constantly targeted the area, setting multiple fires to the structure located off Haleiwa Road.

In 2014, arsonists ignited the facility repeatedly, prompting the city to close it as repairs and renovations were made.

Upgrades to the facility include surveillance cameras and other security features to prevent repeated vandalism.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell will be on hand for the reopening.
