EWA BEACH, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The man suspected of stabbing three people during an apparent road rage incident on Oahu last summer will remain behind bars while he awaits trial.

A judge denied 58-year-old Mark Char's request on Tuesday to have his bail reduced.

Char, who also faces two assault charges stemming from the August incident, had also asked a judge to consider releasing him into the custody of his wife.

Before the freeway stabbing and subsequent standoff with police, Char had already been charged in numerous felony cases, including ones on terroristic threatening, assault, negligent injury and weapons charges.

Neighbors say he terrorized them for years with his behavior.

Char's trial is scheduled to begin in May.
