HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

How rich is the richest person in Hawaii?

He's $8 billion rich.

That's the reported net worth of eBay founder and Hawaii resident Pierre Omidyar, who was ranked the 166th richest person in the world on Forbes 2017 list of billionaires.

That's up a smidge from previous years. His reported net worth a year ago was about $7.2 billion, according to Forbes.

The newly-released list, meanwhile, names entrepreneur Larry Ellison as the seventh-richest person on the planet.

The 72-year-old, co-founder and chairman of software firm Oracle, owns much of Lanai. Reported net worth: $52.2 billion.

According to the Forbes list, Omidyar is the only billionaire who calls Hawaii his full-time home.

The richest person in the world is (still) Bill Gates, the 61-year-old Microsoft founder whose reported net worth is now $86 billion.

Investor Warren Buffett ($75.6 billion) took the no. 2 spot, while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ($72.8 billion) rounded out the top three.
