Whether it's a tsunami or a hurricane, those who prepare the people in the Pacific for disaster want to be ready. They meet for their 15th annual PRiMO conference at the Hawaii Convention Center starting today. PRiMO stands for the Pacific Risk Management Ohana.
Karl Kim, the Executive Director of the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center appeared on Sunrise to talk about it. Kim said that officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Army Corps of Engineers are just a few of the agencies involved.
The public is also invited to attend for free on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm at the Hawaii Convention Center. There will be different demonstrations on how to be prepared, what to organize and you can even sample some freeze-dried emergency food rations. Kim said they actually taste pretty good and brought in some samples from Mountain House.
