HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

HAPA guitarist Barry Flanagan says his stolen guitar -- which he called "an appendage of mine" in interviews after the instrument was taken -- has been returned.

Flanagan, who is currently on Maui, says his wife met with an unidentified person at the Manoa Safeway on Tuesday afternoon to retrieve the instrument.

The guitar passed through several hands before being returned, Flanagan says. The person who took it was unable to sell it because of how quickly word spread about its theft.

Flanagan, who offered a $500 reward for the instrument's return, says he thinks the guitar was stolen out of his car while it was parked at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center several weeks ago.
