This Friday on KGMB, Hawaii News Now presents the 97th Annual Kamehameha Schools' Song Contest, honoring the music of Bina Mossman.
We are honored each year to broadcast this long-standing tradition - sharing Hawaiian music, dance, culture and language with you, our island ohana.
This year, we are proud to introduce a Hawaiian language audio broadcast of the song contest for the first time. This new broadcast format is another example of the revitalization of one of our state's two official languages and the perpetuation of the Hawaiian culture.
The language and culture are the bedrocks of our life here and are key components to the success of our keiki, to excellence in our schools, and strength in our communities.
Nurturing the language and culture is important to the vitality of our state and the world. It is one of the good things about Hawaii.
