HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

As the northeast prepares for as many as 18 inches of snow in the coming days, Hawaiian Airlines is cancelling flights to and from New York City ahead of Winter Storm Stella.

The airline says Monday's flight (HA 50) from Honolulu to John F. Kennedy Airport, as well as the flight's return trip (HA 51) on Tuesday, have already been called off.

A Hawaiian Airlines spokesperson says the carrier will waive all reservation change fees and fare differences to customers affected by the cancelled flights.

New York City is expected to be hit especially hard; snow is forecasted to begin falling this afternoon, and all public school's in the city are closed on Tuesday because of the storm.
