A major development on the local restaurant scene: Paul Kosasa of ABC Stores is entering the restaurant business. He’s developing Duke’s Lane & Eatery on the ground floor of the new Hyatt Centric hotel, what used to be the Waikiki Trade Center. Restaurant options will be open there in June.

Servco opens its new dealership in Lihue, consolidating three previous properties and creating seven new jobs. It’s next to Costco in back of Kukui Grove.

New at Ka Makana Alii – Ultimate Foot Store – and opening at the end of the week, Hollister.

The Mauna Kea observatories award more telescope viewing time to local students. Six students at Waiakea High School will get viewing time – to pursue projects chosen by professional astronomers. 

New to the HPU Board of Trustees – Jeff Boromisa, longtime vice president of procurement for Kellogg, and more recently an HPU teacher.

A key detail in this morning’s report on January hotel revenues – Oahu occupancy fell slightly in January but room sales actually grew smartly – it’s just that there were a lot more rooms online TO sell.

Island Air launches saver fares - $70 fares to Kona, and $60 fares to Kahului and Lihue, when you take the first or last flights of the day.
