WAIALUA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police are investigating an early morning shooting that sent one male to the hospital in serious condition.

Police say a 31-year-old male was driving near Mill Camp when he was apparently struck in the back of his head by an unknown suspect. The man then attempted to drive himself to his home just off Heleki Street.

The shooting was reported around 5:35 a.m. Paramedics responded and picked up the man on Haleki Street in Waialua and transported him to a trauma center in serious condition.

On Saturday morning, a white jeep was parked in the area with an apparent bullet hole and a shattered back window. Police say the car belonged to the victim, however an area resident told Hawaii News Now he was unfamiliar with the vehicle and did not know who it belonged to.

No arrests have been made. Police are investigating.

They are unsure if the shooter was alone or if multiple suspects are involved.
