HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Happening today – the Hawaii Venture Capital Association and Support startup Paradise hand out their entrepreneur and deal of the year awards, 11:30, State Capitol.

Starting this weekend, Polynesian Cultural Center has three new food trucks – Sam Choy and Tita's Seafood and Poke – So Da Bomb – and Fia Fia Farms. Noon to 4 tomorrow.

The Hawaii Foodbank hires a new chief administrative officer. Malcolm Inamine is also on the advisory committee of the Shidler Colleage of Business.

The state library system has a new PressReader service – free access to 6,000 newspapers and magazines in 60 languages from 120 countries – all you need is a library card.

The 23rd annual Honolulu Festival opens today with the Friendship Gala at the Convention Center, and more events there all weekend long. The parade through Waikiki is Sunday.

The Honolulu Museum of Art does a regular exhibition of local artists, and in recent years has come across with modest checks for some of those spotlighted. Three artists this year each got $6,000 or more.
