Hawaiian Word of the Day: 'O'o

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaiian Word of the Day is ''o''o. ''O''o are type of bird, a honey creeper to be exact, endemic to Hawai''i. Characterized by by their nearly all black feathers, the ''o''o have tufts of yellow feathers under each wing, feathers which are extremely prized to feather workers. In older times, Hawaiians would catch the ''o''o, pick the yellow feathers from under their wings and then release them, in order to preserve the bird population. The Hawaiian Word of the Day is ''o''o.
