Forecast: Mellow start, but heavy showers still possible

A mellow start to our Wednesday, but heavy showers, even thundershowers are possible today. The risk continues for Maui County and the Big Island, and will spread to Oahu and Kauai this afternoon and through Thursday.

Expect partly to mostly sunny skies on Oahu this morning with increasing clouds and showers this afternoon.

Winds will be light and generally northerly.

High today in Honolulu will be 79 degrees.

Surf is building to dangerous levels along many north and west shores. Here's the wave size forecast for Oahu: north 15-20 feet, west 10-15 feet, east and south 1-3 feet.

Flash Flood Watch all islands through late tonight and probably into Thursday.

High Surf Warning for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, and Molokai; north shores of Oahu and Maui.

High Surf Advisory for west shores of Oahu and north shores of the Big Island.

Small Craft Advisory for most Hawaii waters due to building open ocean swell.

High Wind Warning for the Big Island summits. Winds 50-70 mph with stronger gusts.

Winter Storm Watch for Big Island summits. Snow, ice, and poor visibility possible.
